Whilst at the University of Liverpool Claire transformed the marketing and student recruitment functions, embedding market research and customer insight into strategic planning across the organisation. This development, alongside the creation of value propositions for all subject areas, resulted in a 20% increase in undergraduate applications in 2015 and a significant increase in the university’s teaching income.

Claire created an integrated strategy which aligned the priorities of colleagues working in UK/EU and International Student Recruitment, Admissions and Widening Participation, Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs and Development and Alumni Relations in order to deliver a strong external presence for the University whilst delivering the best possible value for money internally.

Claire is a Trustee of CASE Europe and a former chair of the Universities Marketing Forum, a national network of UK Marketing Directors in Higher Education.

Claire has been a regular speaker at conferences on topics including; the development of consumer buyer behaviour in HE, integrated advancement, creating compelling value propositions and the importance of embedding a marketing culture across an organisation.

Claire began her marketing career in the FMCG sector, prior to the joining the University of Liverpool in 2000. She holds a master’s degree in Strategic Marketing from Manchester Metropolitan University and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
