Over 25 years of experience developing and leading ambitious, frontline teams spanning HE, the arts, health and overseas development.
Catherine has worked with Halpin since our early days and has advised some of the leading names in UK higher education, schools and arts organisations on their fundraising, income generation, engagement, structure and strategy.
Most recently, Catherine has worked with the University of Aberdeen, delivering a philanthropic campaign feasibility study and then working with the Advancement team as Interim Director, providing leadership, line management, coaching and strategic planning support whilst recruiting to new posts and ensuring a smooth hand-over to the new Director of Advancement .
Prior to consultancy, Catherine spent ten years at the University of Exeter. As Deputy Development Director she delivered their first ever philanthropic campaign, raising £25 million one year ahead of target. She then moved to a College management role, establishing the University of Exeter’s £54m flagship Living Systems Institute – a new, interdisciplinary research institute, in a leading-edge building. Catherine has developed and implemented multi-million-pound business plans and managed annual income and expenditure budgets of £10m.
Active in the community sector in Exeter, Catherine works with the Art and Energy Collective, raising awareness of energy and climate change and has managed volunteer teams for TEDx Exeter, Exeter’s festival of ideas whose talks are translated in up to 34 languages and have been viewed over 20 million times by a global audience.
