Christian’s specialism is data analysis, particularly in analysing fundraising prospect pools to determine capacity, inclination and engagement to help prioritise prospects, create engagement plans, estimate potential fundraising results and the effort required by fundraisers to reach those results. He can also develop prospect management systems to help improve fundraiser performance to manage prospect pipelines. His valuable experience in setting up reporting systems have enabled senior leadership to have clear visibility and understanding of the Development Office’s performance.
He was a co-author of the Institute of Development Professionals in Education’s Schools’ Benchmarking Survey 2016. While at Oxford, he ran the Oxford colleges annual benchmarking study for several years and introduced a new visual design to allow College teams to easily interpret the results.
Christian has over 20 years’ experience in fundraising and has led fundraising operational teams at the Universities of Oxford and Reading, has managed regular giving programmes for Oxford as well as two smaller educational fundraising organisations (Balliol College, Oxford and the independent boys’ school, Radley College). He has also spent six years working as Operations Director for a telephone fundraising agency, where he oversaw around 40 fundraising campaigns per year.
He is currently the Associate Director at Marlborough College, where he is preparing the Development team to launch one of the biggest bursary fundraising campaigns in the independent schools sector.
Christian has a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Southampton, and an MSc in Information Technology from the University of Liverpool.
