With over 30 years of HR experience, Kim is the former Director of Human Resources at the University of London, where he advised and supported the Vice-Chancellor, Board and Remuneration Committee on sensitive senior pay, restructuring and other employment issues.
He was responsible for the creation and implementation of the University’s first HR strategy, with supporting systems, policies and processes including job evaluation, appraisals, talent management and revised contracts of employment. He was Secretary to the University’s Academic Promotions Committee.
He embedded a customer service ethos into the HR function and led on the HR aspects of a number of sensitive restructuring and change management exercises.
Kim was the National Chair of the Universities Human Resources Association for two years. He took semi-retirement in 2018 and is now an independent Trustee of the Royal Agricultural University, the Institute of Development Studies in Sussex, AECC University College in Bournemouth and a non-executive Director of PHES (an umbrella body for various professional organisations in HE).
He also works as a consultant on HR projects for various universities and institutions. Recently these have included the University of Liverpool and City, University of London Students’ Union.
