Lou Chiu

Consulting Fellow

Lou (she/her) is a culture and relationships coach, trainer, and consultant who specialises in cultivating cultural wellness and developing intersectional allies.

She supports organisational clients to understand their underpinning cultural values and practices, identifying the dynamics between policies and procedures and the lived experiences of their people, to instigate meaningful and sustainable social change. Lou’s practice combines Existentialist and Postmodernist coaching, organisational and social psychology, and critical and anti-oppression theories.

Though most of her clients are Higher Education Institutions and students’ unions, Lou has also recently worked with clients from the space technology, sustainability, digital marketing sectors, and membership organisations and local government.

Before setting up her practice, Lou worked in marketing, communications, widening participation, and student recruitment, wellbeing and engagement roles in universities, colleges, and students’ unions across East Anglia over the past 16 years, including as Director of Membership Services at the University of East Anglia Students’ Union.

She is currently an External Trustee and Chair of the Trustee Board at the University of Suffolk Students’ Union. Lou brings with her knowledge and experiences of governance, membership services, students’ experience, stakeholder management, and coaching practice and academic interest in identity construction, social epistemology, and collective action.
