Halpin Exchange – UK Universities’ Response to Black Lives Matter Revisited

In November 2020, Halpin released a research report detailing how UK universities responded to the Black Lives Matter (BLM) action that took place that year, accompanied by a webinar to discuss the findings. Through interviews, surveys, and engagement with key stakeholders, we extracted common challenges and recommendations for future best practices to support Black lives.

Four years on, it is an opportune moment to reflect on the progress made, evaluate tangible changes, and share insights for improving the sector. Revisiting the research provides a valuable opportunity for higher education to glean lessons from both successes and mistakes, advancing its journey toward anti-racism.

This webinar, hosted by Osaro Otobo and guest panellists, will summarise the new report’s findings and offer practical recommendations that you can apply to your institution. By registering for this event, you will receive access to the full report.

This webinar will help you:

  • Elevate the voices of Black lives in the sector.
  • Highlight insights from those carrying out anti-racism work in the sector.
  • Reinvigorate and sustain momentum for anti-racism work by sharing challenges, reflections and recommendations.
